A special event was held on Thursday 11th July in Belgrade (Serbia), as part of the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS) Regional Meeting 2019, to launch the ALBA Network and spotlight some of the key issues it will address.
The programme started with a talk by Prof. Mara Dierssen (President of the Trisomy 21 Research Society, Center for Genomic Regulation, Barcelona, Spain) on why women are still underrepresented at the top in neuroscience and how to change this issue. Then Prof. Carmen Sandi (Chair of the ALBA Steering Committee and FENS President, EPFL, Switzerland) introduced the Network, its mission and the actions it intends on taking to promote equality and diversity in brain sciences.
At the end of her presentation, Prof. Sandi encouraged the audience to take their own steps in order to support ALBA. They include:
- Joining the network
- Sharing the news about the launch of the ALBA Network: follow us on Twitter, Facebook or Linked In
- Organising an ALBA event at your meeting/conference
- Sending relevant info or data on equality and diversity in brain sciences to info@alba.network
Join us to stay tuned on ways of fostering diversity in brain research.
