I joined ALBA because :
I wish to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) as a physician-executive and servant leader. I serve as the co-chair of the DEI Working Group for the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG). SWOG is a major player in the global cancer research infrastructure, with members in 47 states and six other countries as part of the NCI's National Clinical Trials Network (NCTN). I also lead the Cancer Health Equity Research Center (CHERC), an institution emerging from close collaboration between Miami Cancer Institute and Florida International University (FIU). CHERC is making significant strides toward improving cancer outcomes for underrepresented populations.
