Why are you joining ALBA?” : “Convinced that a diverse and inclusive science is paramount, that we all still have progress to make to reach this ideal, and that together we will go further faster, I joined the ALBA network because I share the values its members uphold and wish to contribute to building together a caring and fulfilling environment essential to first-rate, rigorous, reproducible and high-impact research for the neuroscience community that will ultimately benefit society as a whole.

Brazil is a country that shows a lack of resources for research, making it challenging to perform projects and also reflecting a deficiency in building capacity. Therefore, there is a need to train more researchers to provide autonomy to analyze their data. Language difficulties can be an obstacle to learning, so courses in our language or with translation would be a pronounced help. Some regions of Brazil are also socioeconomically disadvantaged, which makes research almost incipient in these regions. Teaching researchers how to raise funds and conduct external collaborations would be essential. ALBA will support the goals of advancing inclusivity and promoting diversity in science, encouraging diverse perspectives in brain science and supporting equity to contribute to important scientific discoveries in neuroscience. So, joining ALBA would be an excellent way to contribute to these efforts to promote a more equitable and diverse global scientific community.

I believe in the mission and the importance of it

I think it is important to support girls/women (or other underrepresented groups) in science. I have personally experienced that not everyone is equal yet.

As a neuro stem cell researcher, I am deeply driven by both the scientific potential of this field to unlock mysteries of the brain and the social imperative to ensure everyone has access to its advancements. The ALBA Network resonates with both these passions, making it a perfect fit for my professional aspirations. Joining ALBA is not just about advancing my research, but about becoming part of a larger movement for a more just and impactful brain science. I am confident that my skills, expertise, and passion for equity align perfectly with ALBA's mission and am happy to join such a great community.

I am joining Alba because I would like to share my experience to help other neuroscientists and be involved in networking, recognition, awareness and advocacy.

I'm interested in increasing the visibility of underrepresented communities in brain research. And keep up with the initiatives being done for the same.

I would like to join Alba for a chance to integrate within the diversity framework of Neuroscientists in Europe. Mostly, I am interested in mentoring neuroscience students and graduates from under-represented groups, assisting them through their internships and research projects.
