To be a part of network supporting diversity and equity in scientific community.

I am a member of the Hotchkiss Brain Institute and the Canadian Association of Neuroscience EDI committees. I try to work towards equity and inclusivity in neuroscience at my local institutes and am always on the look out for strategies and new ideas in this arena.

To be proactive in helping to foster a fair and diverse scientific community.

Alba embraces an essential mission towards equity and diversity in science.

I want to join ALBA for the following reasons:
1. I want to expand my current network of international and national neuro- scientists with whom I can exchange collaborative ideas.
2. I want to provide mentorship to science students from various nationalities as this will give me global view of education.Being an educationist, this will be helpful in making me a better and wise educator also.

ALBA Network shows intense effort to increase knowledge of gender biases and promote best practices to counteract it. This spirit inspired me and I hope to be part of this effort!

Working towards a more equitable academic environment to nurture diversity, and to promote creativity has become an important personal goal as an active professional member within our scientific community. This goal requires actions at many different levels, from the lab to scientific organizations to entities developing policies. Thus, it is important to connect with colleagues who are working towards similar goals to assist and contribute to an important transformation that must take place to make science and scientific careers possible regardless of gender identity, race, ethnicity, disability, culture or socioeconomic status.

I want to help give better visibility to underrepresented groups in neuroscience, and I’m extremely interested in getting involved in activities that promote these populations. I have been working with the World Association for Cultural Psychiatry (WACP) for over 10 years to promote the inclusion of academics, scientists, and clinicians from underrepresented countries. Specifically, I have worked with the WACP journal, the WCPRR, which publishes quality research papers from these countries. I’m now the incoming editor-in-chief of the WCPRR. I want to work with the ALBA Network to help underrepresented neuroscientists. I’m hoping to learn from ALBA how to better facilitate underrepresented communities and to contribute the approaches that I’ve learned from working with the WACP.
