ALBA represents a global diverse network of individual neuroscientists who are involved in research, education, communication and advocacy, and are committed to supporting and advocating for actions and policies that foster diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in brain sciences across the globe. We currently have 1890 individual members from 91 countries.

Equity, diversity, and inclusion are notions that we all consider important, but that doesn't necessarily mean that we are actively working to reduce our unconscious bias. Through my involvement in the ALBA network I aspire to be part of the initiative that brings this bias to light, to create a better, fairer working environment for everyone in Neuroscience.

As an immigrant, a 1st-gen university student [later PhD student], and a woman-of-colour with invisible disabilities, I know how difficult academic and career goals are with no/limited prior knowledge and limited resources and support. I have keenly fostered more diversity and inclusion in the research communities I have served in Toronto, Sweden, and Minnesota, and I look forward to continuing that through ALBA in the future.
