I am eager to join the ALBA Network, dedicated to empowering brain scientists as Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion advocates, promoting best practices to counter bias, recognizing outstanding contributions to science and the diversity of underrepresented brain scientists for better visibility, and providing professional development opportunities to underrepresented neuroscientists.

I would love to join Alba to empower other researchers and grow professionally.

Because I'm see very few representation of Latinoamerica in the FENS Forum 2022

I want to support its mission, and learn more about how I can recognize and counteract my own biases

I would like to be part of an organization that promotes science and scientists. I am committed to the promotion of women in science and their work. I collaborate with Wikimedia Mexico and Científicas Mexicanas to improve the biographies of women and underrepresented people in science on Wikipedia. I attended the Alba events during the FENS Forum 2022 and I felt very welcomed and part of the community.

As a woman and mother, I recognize the profound impact of these factors on the field of science, particularly the challenges associated with securing positions, competing for opportunities, and sustaining scientific productivity. These aspects significantly influence both one's career trajectory and overall life. Residing in a country like Brazil, characterized by pervasive social inequality, I, as a university professor, keenly observe the barriers to accessing the benefits of science.
Engaging in forums and networks that address and advocate for initiatives aimed at minimizing these disparities is an integral aspect of the professional and personal journey of a researcher and educator, which I am committed to.

During the EBBS 2023 meeting in Amsterdam (Netherlands), I was given a first introduction to the goals and mission of ALBA. As a graduate student working in the field of behavioral neuroscience while being actively involved in the education of young psychologists, one of my aims is to spread awareness among young students about diversity and equity problems within the research field as a whole, and to promote transparency in research. I believe that becoming a member of ALBA can further help me in this process and I am looking forward to become part of the community.

I am co-founding the Applied Neuroscience Association (ANA) with an alumna colleague with start-up support from honorary members - our vision is 'spreading brain science for social good'

I believe there is always something to learn to make our labs more diverse and equitable for all it's members.

As Ph.D. student I had the possibility to observe how cultural bias can negative affect the research in neuroscience and the working and personal life of neurosciantists. I want to give my contribution in order to make science a more inclusive environment.
