The ALBA Network has partnered with the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology (ACNP) to provide travel fellowships for young scientists in the field of neuropsychopharmacology who are ALBA members to participate in the 63rd Annual ACNP Meeting taking place on 8-11 December 2024 in Phoenix, Arizona, USA. ACNP will sponsor one ALBA member to attend an outstanding scientific program in clinical and basic research on brain-behavior-drug interactions; become aware of the most recent, and often unpublished, advances in psychopharmacology; and meet and interact with internationally distinguished researchers and scientists.

Winner 2024
Dr Brenda Cabrera-Mendoza is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Yale School of Medicine. She completed her MD and PhD in the National Autonomous University of Mexico as part of the Plan of Combined Studies in Medicine. Her research is focused on genetic and epigenetic changes associated with substance use disorders and suicidal behaviour.
"As a first-generation Latino American researcher, I am aware of the positive impact that Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)-promoting initiatives make. Thus, I joined the ALBA network to contribute to its efforts and help create a more inclusive scientific community." - Dr Brenda Cabrera-Mendoza
Winner 2023
Dr Fiona Hollis is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacology, Physiology, and Neuroscience at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine (USC SOM). The Hollis lab studies the role of brain mitochondrial function in modulating social behaviour (maternal care, social interaction, communication), with an emphasis on understanding behavioural mechanisms underlying neuropsychiatric (anxiety, depression, postpartum depression) and neurodevelopmental disorders (autism, Fragile X Syndrome). As a member of the ALBA network since 2019, Dr Hollis is committed to promoting diversity and equity in science.
"I value the important work that ALBA does to increase visibility of region- and culture-specific diversity issues. Their dissemination of data and resources for mentoring, best practices, and advocacy is creating a solid foundation towards a thriving, diverse neuroscience community." - Dr Fiona Hollis
